From 1935 intil 1941, Akira Ifukube worked as a forestry officer in Akkeshi, Hokkaido. Akkeshi is a densely forested coastal area in eastern Hokkaido. Ifukube's log cabin was located on a small peninsula called "Chimbe." Although his cabin no longer stands, Chimbe can be visited today by tourists. (All photos by the webmaster.)
