Lauda Concertata for Marimba and Orchestra is a one-movement marimba concerto, and is one of the best-known works of its type in the repertoire. In 1976, Ifukube was commissioned to write it by the Japan Shinsei Symphony Orchestra in celebration of its tenth anniversary. Ifukube dedicated the piece to the Japanese marimba virtuoso, Keiko Abe.

Abe appeared as the soloist the the premiere of Lauda Concertata in 1976. She has performed it several times over the years, including once at Carnegie Hall in 1981.

In 1986, Ifukube made an arrangement Lauda Concertata for soloist and wind orchestra.
