Webmaster of AKIRAIFUKUBE.ORG

Thank you for visiting AKIRAIFUKUBE.ORG!
My name is Erik Homenick, I'm 30 and live in San Diego, California. I've been a fan of classic horror/sci-fi films all of my life. Both myself and my brother Brett (who writes for G-Fan Magazine) have loved Godzilla for as far back as either one of us can remember.
I work as a French teacher in San Diego.
I've written two articles about Akira Ifukube that have appeared in G-Fan Magazine (issue nos. 60 and 75).
Aside from movies, music is a great passion of mine. My musical tastes are ecclectic; some of my favorite bands are Emerson Lake and Palmer, Sublime, (old) Beastie Boys, Steeleye Span, Misfits andRoy Orbison. Of course, classical (orchestral) music is a huge interest, and Akira Ifukube is without doubt my favorite composer. Other composers I enjoy are Jean Sibelius, Aram Khachaturian, Yasushi Akutagawa, Gustav Holst, Wojciech Kilar, Manuel de Falla, Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Ludwig van Beethoven, Silvestre Revueltas, Uuno Klami, Modest Mussorgsky, Ottorino Respighi and Carl Orff, just to name a "few." Additionally, I am a musician myself. I play Scottish Highland bagpipes and have composed serveral pieces for that instrument.
Why did I create AKIRAIFUKUBE.ORG? The answer is simple: I love Akira Ifukube and there is simply not enough information about this man available in English. I've done a considerable amount of collecting "all things Ifukube" over the years, and thus have done quite a bit of personal research into the man's life and music. With this site, I hope to promote Maestro Ifukube's genius and make information about him availabale in a single fun, convenient place for his fans everywhere in the world.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your visit to AKIRAIFUKUBE.ORG.
