PETITE
ROMANCE POUR CLAVECIN
(2002)

A harpsichord
In 2002, Sumina Arihashi, a Japanese harpsichordist, released an anthology CD of harpsichord compositions called Cembalo Revolution. Wanting to include works by Ifukube on her recording, she approached the composer and asked for harpsichord scores. As a result, Ifukube specially composed a new piece, Petite romance pour clavecin (Little Romance for Harpsichord), based on motifs from his score for the 1966 samurai film, Nemuri Kyoshiro 7: Tajo-ken.
